At Serenity AI Journal & Diary ("we," "our," or "us"), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and never leaves your device unless you choose to enable iCloud sync:

• Journal Entries: Your written reflections, mood selections, and timestamps
• Photos: Any images you attach to journal entries
• Tags: Custom tags you create for organizing entries
• Settings: Your app preferences and customizations
• Analytics Data: Local statistics about your usage patterns (streaks, mood trends, etc.)

1.2 Information We Process (Not Stored)

When using AI-powered features, the following information is temporarily processed but not stored:

• Mood Selection: Sent to Groq AI API to generate personalized prompts
• No Journal Content: Your actual journal entries are NEVER sent to any external service

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do NOT collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data
• Device identifiers for tracking
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Advertising identifiers

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 AI Prompt Generation

When you select a mood, we send only the mood type (e.g., "joyful", "anxious") to Groq AI API to generate a personalized journal prompt. This request:

• Contains no personal information
• Is not linked to your identity
• Is not stored by us or Groq AI
• Only receives a text prompt in response

2.2 Local Processing

All other features (mood tracking, analytics, insights, streaks) are processed entirely on your device using SwiftData. Your data never leaves your device except as described in Section 3.

3. Data Storage and Sync

3.1 Local Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is secured by iOS system-level encryption and your device passcode/biometric authentication.

3.2 Optional iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud in your device settings:

• Your journal entries may sync to your personal iCloud account
• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
• Only accessible by you on your devices signed into the same iCloud account
• We have no access to your iCloud data
• You can disable iCloud sync in iOS Settings at any time

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Groq AI API

We use Groq AI (https://groq.com) to generate journal prompts. When you select a mood:

• We send only the mood type (e.g., "joyful")
• No personal information is included
• Groq's privacy policy applies: https://groq.com/privacy-policy
• We have no control over Groq's data practices

4.2 No Other Third Parties

We do not use:

• Analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Social media integrations
• Crash reporting tools
• Any other third-party tracking or data collection services

5. Data Security

We implement the following security measures:

• Biometric Lock: Optional Face ID/Touch ID protection for app access
• iOS Encryption: All local data benefits from iOS system-level encryption
• No Cloud Storage: We don't operate any servers storing your data
• HTTPS: All API requests to Groq AI use secure HTTPS connections
• Minimal Data Transfer: Only mood type is sent externally, never journal content

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Data Access and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• View: All your data is visible within the app
• Export: Export entries as CSV or text files
• Delete: Delete individual entries or all data via Settings
• Offline Mode: Use the app completely offline if preferred

6.2 Biometric Authentication

You can enable or disable Face ID/Touch ID protection in app Settings. This is entirely optional.

6.3 iCloud Sync

Control iCloud sync through iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud. Disabling iCloud will keep all data local only.

7. Children's Privacy

Our app is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect personal data and don't require account creation, no special procedures are needed for children's privacy protection beyond standard iOS security.

8. International Users

The app is available globally. Since all data is stored locally on your device, no international data transfers occur except:

• Mood type sent to Groq AI servers (location varies, see Groq's privacy policy)
• Optional iCloud sync (governed by Apple's iCloud terms and your iCloud region settings)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last updated" date
• For material changes, providing an in-app notification

Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Data Retention

We retain no data because we don't collect it. Your data exists only:

• On your device (until you delete it)
• In your personal iCloud (if enabled, until you delete it)

When you delete the app, all local data is removed. iCloud data can be deleted via iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.
